What is this?
Win9x Power Pack is a collection of utilities and patches for use in Windows 98 First Edition, Second Edition, and Windows Millenium.
Each patch is described in the included HTML files, and can only be installed by hand. Perhaps future releases will include some form of auto-detection, but that day is not today.
Also included are updated installation files for Internet Explorer 6, and DirectX 9.0c (Updated thru April 2007).
How do I build/update this package?
*NOTE: You must have a broadband connection to Build Win9xPP v5. If you don't want to wait, you can download a full release (230MB) from Win9xPP.org.*
Download the release archive, and extract it using a tool such as 7-zip (7zip.org), into a new directory. Next, Double-Click the file named "W9xBuild". Select option 1 from the menu, and sit tight.
The build script will download the latest patch, apply it, and then download the latest files into a sub-directory called "W9xPP". Once the build script returns you to the menu screen, Win9xPP v5 is ready for use.
You can burn the contents of the W9xPP folder onto a CD. It already has an autoplay program for CD use.
A few custom packages have been built for use with all version of Windows 98, and Windows Me. These packages are: IE6SP1, and DirectX 9.
