Before we get to the mess-o-crap known as Google Page Rank, here are a few other things that bother me...

standards-compliant web pages
Keywords
HTML Keywords (coded at the beginning of web-page HTML) were created for search engines to use to 'classify' or 'categorize' particular web pages. Many folks figured out that no matter what your page was about, if you wanted high traffic, then just find the most used search terms and enter those as your keywords. Then whenever people were looking for any of the most-popular things people look for (Site2) (Site3) , your page would come up in the search results. Even if your page had nothing to do with what they searched for.

So, if your web page was about the only Tulip variety that no one cared about (Tulipsus Ugliosis) you could get high web traffic by putting into your KEYWORDS the terms, "Britney Spears", "Youtube", "Facebook", "Myspace", "porn", "naked women", "George Bush", "Iraq", "Ebay", "make money on ebay", -- and so on. Nothing to do with your page, but the search engines would serve-up your website to anyone looking for the popular things.
The following are just notes now... this is not the finished article yet
... but you may find it interesting to poke around and find out how the 'marketers' are making a mockery of 'free exchange of ideas' on the internet -- all just to try to make a quick buck ($$$) off of you.

Ever read an article on the web which 'seems' to be talking about your subject, but when you finish you just don't feel like there was any substance in the supposed answer? The responder seemed to use a lot of the buzz-words, but in the end there really wasn't a usable answer?

HERE IS WHY... check out these four web sites (Then continue reading below):

Google results show places where the plagiarists can be found.

Instant Article Wizard which allows you to write faux 'authoritative content' articles on subjects you know absolutely nothing about. The program scans the search engine results with your KEYWORD(s) as they appear in the complete sentence on someone else's site. Then you pick and choose other people's sentences from many sources (to hide the fact that you are stealing a 'pinch' from each of them.

Program Author (Jonathan Leger) claims he wrote 5 separate articles on subjects he knew absolutely nothing about, and his articles were rated as 'expert' by a human.

Instant-Article-Wizard.com

Article Architect which appears to do the same type of plagiarizing as Instant Article Wizard.

Article-Architect.com

Both the above sites should have the websites of the 'testimonials' checked for plagiarizing articles.

Duncan Carver

Took new website, with bogus subject matter and got it to top of Google results in only weeks. Done by shady, sly use of his OTHER websites to post links from and adding a small almost unnoticeable link to HIS site on the pages of Customers who hired him to get THEIR web pages optimized.
